Myanmar History from Myanmar Perspectives, the annual training programme of the Centre was successfully carried out from 26th July to 7th June, 2007. A picture of Myanmar’s past, its development, its mosaic of cultures and traditions, especially their strengths and weaknesses and ability to adapt in changing circumstances, as seen from the perspectives of the present community of scholars in the country have been put together in this programme.
The programme consisted of three-day lectures and discussions conducted by prominent Myanmar scholars, and a nine-day trip to historical sites of Bago, Mandalay, Bagan, and Pyay. Lecture topics included Overview of Myanmar History, Bagan:Buddhism, Bagan: Architecture, Hanthawaddy: Maritime Trade and Land Empire, Mandalay: The City, Mandalay: The Court, History of Yangon and Ancient Pyu Cities in Myanmar.
