Cultural Heritage of Myanmar , 2010 (July)

Annual Programme of SEAMEO CHAT

        One of the major programmes in SEAMEO CHAT is the lecture series which has been given by historians and scholars from the region since the inauguration of the Centre in the year 2000.

         For this year, the lecture series was on the Cultural Heritage of Myanmar. The lectures were given at the Centre from 20 to 24 July 2010. Lecture topics and the lecturers are as follows:

         Lecture one: The Old Pyu City of Thegon by U San Win, Assistant Director (Retired), the Department of Historical Research,

         Lecture two: The Culture of Vishnu Old City by Professor Dr San Shwe, Department of Archaeology, University of Yangon,

         Lecture three: The Ancient City of Thaton by U San Win, Assistant Director (Retired), the Department of Historical Research,

         Lecture four: Preliminary Studies on Historical Places of Mandalay, Inwa and Mingun by Myo Aung, Senior Programme Officer, SEAMEO CHAT, and

         Lecture five: The World of the Kyauktawgyi Murals by Professor Tun Aung Chain, Director (Retired), SEAMEO CHAT.

         The length of the lecture is two hours per day, one hour for presentation and one hour for discussions. The senior academics of the Department of History, Archaeology and International Relations of the Universities of Yangon area totaling (57) participants attended the lectures, and they were given the completion certificates on the last day of the lecture series.
