The 6 th SEAMEO CHAT Governing Board Meeting was held on 11-12 September at the Centre and attended by the Governing Board Members from Brunei Darussalum, Cambodia , Indonesia , Singapore , Thailand , Vietnam ; the representatives from Philippines and Lao PDR; and the representative from France, the Associate Member Country of SEAMEO.

At the Opening Ceremony of the Meeting, U Myo Nyunt, Deputy Minister for Education, Myanmar delivered an opening address which was followed by the Remarks from Dr. Wahdi S A Yudhi, Deputy Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat. The sessions of the Meeting commenced after the Opening Ceremony at which the Governing Board Members discussed on the Reports and Working Papers presented by the Centre.

The Meeting ended on 12 th September after which the members went for a school visit to Basic State Middle School No. (3) Insein, an adopted by the Centre for its Community Involvement Project. Books for the school library, and a DVD player for the school as a teaching aid were donated by the Governing Board Member for Singapore The Board Member for Brunei Darussalum also donated some stationary for the needy students of the school. Songs and Myanmar dance were performed by the school children and the Members left the school at 4:00pm after being shown around the school by the Headmaster and the teachers.
